About Me

All pieces are handcrafted by me, Michele Mallinder in my garden studio in West Sussex. My passion is to create beautiful unique pieces of jewellery encapsulating your horse tail memories to be worn and treasured.

I've loved everything equine for as long as I can remember. My parents discovered my passion for Equestrianism at the age of 2, when I was led around on a pony while the older members of the holiday party went trekking in Devon.  They all couldn't wait to get their feet back onto solid ground.  As for me - I had to be prised away!  As soon as I turned 6 I was old enough to start riding lessons at our local riding school and that's when my equestrian journey began.  Fast forward to today, and my 2 daughters Grace and Libby have both been pony mad and now have their own horses.

Alongside my love for ponies, I’ve always adored anything sparkly. I can remember spending hours at my Nan's, going through her jewellery box. It wasn’t until my early thirties that I discovered a small bead shop while wandering the North Lanes in Brighton. They offered jewellery making classes, and that’s when my second passion was sparked. I soon enrolled in a silver smithing class, where I developed a love for melting and creating precious metal jewellery.

Horsetails & Jewellery was born from my passion for horses and my love of creating beautiful sterling silver jewellery. It felt only natural to combine the two. Each piece is crafted with love, and it brings me great joy to create jewellery by hand that helps you remember your 'best friend' and the amazing memories you shared together.
